A First Time For Everything – Making Your Child’s Dentist Appointment Easier

As a kid, nothing can be more daunting than a trip to the dentist. Movies aimed at kids like Finding Nemo often portray dentists in less favorable light which leaves them having their reservations about the dentist’s chair.

As per a survey conducted by the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, around 9-15% of Americans avoid visiting the dentist because of fear and anxiety.

We at Waterfront Family Dentistry want to put an end to that train of thought.

Overcoming the Fear:

The first step you can take to overcome this fear is to familiarize your child with the dentist’s office. This can be achieved by taking your child to the dentist just for a friendly visit. Make sure that your child walks around the office for a while, and looks at the different equipment on the table.

We also instruct parents to encourage their children to have a conversation with the dentist as it helps in building trust. It is important for your kids to know that they have nothing to fear before they settle in for their checkup.

The Waterfront Family Loyalty Program:

While most health and dental insurances are accepted at the clinic, we’ve set up a Loyalty Program that empowers parents without an existing insurance plan.

The many perks that we offer include two cleanings and examinations per year, and one emergency exam if needed. Fluoride treatment and X-rays are also included in the program. On top of all that, we also promise a flat 20% off on all other dental services provided at our office.

Patient Information Form:

In order to give parents a head start, we also offer the facility of patient information forms. These forms are available and can be filled any time prior to the scheduled appointment. Simply type in your first name, last name, choose a convenient appointment date, hit the submit button and you’re good to go!

These forms improve the efficiency of our dental care system, making the first appointment less of a chore for your family. Parents are instructed to pick up these patient information forms from the front desk on the day of the appointment.
